In 2013 our 5 year old daughter – Jennifer was treated to deep fried prawns at our local fish and chips shop – on the menu they are simply called “Prawn pops”.

Every Monday at 16h15 after Jennifer’s swimming class we would walk through the door and every Monday at 16h15 we would receive a friendly greeting from the lady behind the counter “Ah” she would say “I see our prawn pop princess is back again – I assume the madam will have a portion of prawn pops, no chips and an orange juice?” and of course every time Jennifer would smile sweetly and say “ooh yes”.

 

We would sit and wait for our order and every week she would say to me “Mommy, I can’t believe the lady remembers me!”

Week in and week out  we went to that take away restaurant – not because the prawns were the best in town or because they had the best view, but simply because the lady behind the counter acknowledged us, made us feel important, and made Jennifer the “Prawn Pop Princess” even if it was just for that 30 minutes!
