One of the remarkable success stories of South African cricket, Pat Symcox – Speaker MC was not even a member of the Natal provincial squad in the season before he made his international debut at the age of 33.

Pat Symcox

Pat Symcox was born in Kimberley on 14th April 1960.  Well known as someone who is prepared to speak his mind, Pat Symcox made his International Cricket debut in 1993 when South Africa played against Sri Lanka.

Pat Symcox became a fixture in the National Squad, primarily for his ability as a limited-overs player.  Now available to book through Conference Speakers

A tall off-spinner, Pat maintained an exceptional economy rate of just over 3.5 runs an over in international matches.  Pat Symcox worked hard on his fitness and agility in order to keep up with his younger colleagues in the field.  His determination to stop everything within reach surprised more than one batsman running between the wickets.  As a senior player in the modern era of South African cricket, Pat Symcox was involved in forming the strategy on which the Protea’s often followed.

Since retiring from all cricket in 1999, Pat Symcox – Speaker MC now owns a website that specialises in school sport and is a commentator for Supersport.  His son Russell is now at theKZNCricketAcademy and plays forNatal ‘B’.

Pat’s hobbies include fishing, collecting cricket memorabilia, restoring furniture, playing guitar and losing golf balls!

“A big thank you to Conference Speakers for all the arrangement to get Pat Symcox to Lime Acres. Mr Symcox was extremely well received by everyone at Finsch Diamond Mine and we found his friendly and down to earth nature so inspiring. He was extremely professional at all times. He managed to reach the group that was made up of all levels of employees from the Mine with his message with great ease. What a great guy!”
