Dr Kelvin Kemm – Technology studied at the University of KwaZulu Natal where he gained degrees in mathematics and nuclear physics. On completing a PhD, he started work as a research and development scientist at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation.
He then moved into the field of the management of technology and became involved in a wide variety of projects in many industrial sectors, giving him wide exposure to the realities of the technological and industrial base of society. Now available to book through Conference Speakers
Dr Kemm believes that a healthy economy needs a wide appreciation of the role of technology. As a result of this belief, he became interested in the public awareness of technology and has written over 1000 popular interest articles in journals, magazines and newspapers, internationally. He has also written two books; a public interest book entitled Techtrack – A Winding Path of South African Development, and a coffee table book – At the Forefront of Weather. For many years he has written his own column in Engineering News, which has a significant international readership.
He has also regularly appeared on radio and TV programmes in South Africa and overseas, and is a regular speaker at public events.
In 1994 Dr Kemm was appointed to the International Board of Advisors of the Washington DC-based environment and technology lobby group; The Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow. He is a member of the International Board of GoNuclear Inc based in Colorado, USA, and also on the American Board of: Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy; EFN: USA based in Paris, France. In 2015 he was appointed to the Ministerial Advisory Council on Energy by the Minister of Energy.
An entry concerning Dr Kemm was entered into Who’s Who in the World in 2001.
In 2003 Dr Kelvin Kemm – Technology was awarded the Lifetime Achiever’s Award in Science and Technology, by the National Science and Technology Forum. In 2005 he was a finalist in the Men’s Health magazine Best Man in South Africa Award. In 2007 he was awarded a Circle of Valour award by The Knights of Durban. He has received various other awards.
In 2015 Dr Kemm has been appointed as a member of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Energy (MACE). Follow CSI on Twitter
