Slide01

Tumi Morake

Tumi Morake’s comedy acting began in the student production of Shakespeare’s 12th Night were she played Feste, the clown. She’s worked on a number of theatre productions in lead roles, such as Another Child and 14 Life Crisis (both at the Grahamstown Arts Fest’), Maru at the Windybrow theatre, and Is this Africa, which was presented at the FNB Dance Umbrella and the African Dance Festival in Paris in 2006. She now works mainly in Industrial and educational theatre projects, among other things.  Her first stand up performance was scripted material for corporate events. She later went on to perform at the Rotaract charity event “Best Medicine” in the 2003 and 2004. She has since been booked for regular spots at different club venues around Gauteng by Parker Leisure Management, Whacked Management, Nu Breed Comedy and Nomad Comedy. Big comedy events include Have A Heart for Child Welfare, Woodstock 2006, Arts Alive (2006 and 2007), Women In Arts (2007), Tshwane Comedy Festival, Just Bcoz Comedy fest, King Size Comedy and Blacks Only (Real Concerts). Tumi’s comedy has been described as in your face and slightly provocative. But she’s funny, isn’t that the whole point?

The Muses

If there is a party worth starting, the best ignition mechanism is this funky four-piece out of Gauteng, South Africa that will take any sensible situation and turn it into a sensational night to remember, two violins, one viola and a single cello at a time. Meet four drop-dead gorgeous, classically-trained virtuosos, all keen to get as many people on their feet and dancing the night away each time they unpack the contents of their three carefully considered albums.

The Muses are no ‘one trick ponies’ and have several performance options that always keep the live show different. Whether they’re sharing the stage with percussionists 1st Project in their “Strings Attached” show, or combining pop, strings and big band jazz with their friends in Swing City, or turning up the beats with hip hop DJ, Ms Cosmo, in their “Violins & Vinyls” show, the ladies always have an electrifying live show to keep audiences captivated. In addition, their laser show offering is always a show-stopper! Furthermore, the quartet occasionally perform with “The Muses Band” which includes two horn players and a drummer. “We love the buzz, the wonderful energy each show brings with it,” Kotze concludes. Big or small, blue chip or A-List corporates, The Muses make the rooms they play in, and with each the quartet blazes a trail and reputation that’ll see these four busy, playing up a storm indefinitely!
