Vanessa Raphaely – Millennials Motivational is an award-winning content director, editor, children’s author and journalist, based in Cape Town. Vanessa started her career on London’s Fleet Street, on The Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine. She then moved on to the Sunday Express Magazine and then to UK Cosmopolitan, where she remained until she left to launch and edit her brainchild, ZEST, Hearst UK’s first Health, Fitness and Beauty Magazine.

After it’s successful launch, homesickness struck and Vanessa returned to her hometown of Cape Town, to edit South African Cosmopolitan. She held this role for 16 years, building the brand into a powerhouse editorially and commercially. Book through Conference Speakers

During her time at the helm, COSMO dominated women’s print media in South Africa, winning many awards (Editor of the Year, International Brand of the Year, Women’s Magazine of the Year, to name a few.)

Vanessa soon rose to the position of Editorial Director, and then Content Director of the group, as well, taking on responsibility for content, management, strategy and commercial solutions for Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, O, The Oprah Magazine, WOW Women on Wheels, Good Housekeeping, Goeie Huishouding and House and Leisure, across all publishing platforms.

Vanessa also held responsibility for conceiving and managing the majority of Associated Media’s highly successful commercial brand extensions, including, but not limited to COSMOJeans, COSMO Sexy Man Calendar, GoodHousekeeping’s Bake Stars, Women on Wheels, Awesome Women and COSMOLingerie.

In 2015 Vanessa sold her shares in the group to take an extended sabbatical from the 9-5.

She has just completed her first children’s book, (to be published before Christmas, 2015,) and has been enjoying the freedom to revisit journalism, travel writing and the stimulating opportunity to consult to businesses whose target markets are, her speciality subject and passion – South African women of all ages.

She lives in Cape Town with her architect husband, three children and three dogs.
