Amanda Forrow

Books:

Amanda Forrow arrived in Pretoria from England with a thousand Rand, a suitcase and lots of hope in 1981.  Having been a Secretary and Secretarial teacher in both England and Germany she found they would not give her a job as a secretary unless she spoke Afrikaans, so she became a trainer of word processing and then went on to selling.  Amanda found she was a great saleswoman so she threw caution to the wind and opened a boutique, thus satisfying her lust for clothes!  After three years she sold up so that she could audition as an extra in TV Advertisements as she wanted to see how that worked.  The director cast her as the lead in the Eno’s ad and then asked her to come and do comedy on his Radio 702 morning show even though there were no women on Popular radio then.  Her comic timing and uncanny ability to do everyone’s accent caused quite a stir in the industry and then, finding she liked making people laugh, she approached Martin Bailie at Radio 5 and make him an offer he couldn’t understand, and joined him doing the breakfast show for 3 years!

Amanda Forrow was then asked to do a fun TV Cookery show, which she continued for 7 years, mostly with Pick & Pay, which became the most popular Cookery show on SABC ever.  She remained on radio and launched her Consumer show “The Buck Stops Here” and at last some consumers were getting what they paid for!  During this time Amanda Forrow also became a voice over artist, popular MC, after dinner speaker and auctioneer often putting women’s thoughts across to men for a change!  She left Radio and TV in the late1990”s to concentrate on her speaking career and has become a sought after Motivational speaker to Corporate Companies and groups all around the country.

‘How To Be Happy” Presentation

Amanda had by now become the “Voice” of many women and wanted to carry on her theme of helping women to understand how to deal with all the scenarios that are thrown at us on a daily basis.  After the death of her Sister and Mother from cancer, her 2 disastrous marriages, physical abuse from her Father resulting in her broken neck and back and her subsequent healing of this, she felt she had a pretty good idea of how to overcome sadness and difficulty and get herself happy again.

In these tailor made presentations, Amanda shares her ideas on how to actually deal with loss, negativity, drama addiction, betrayal, Marriage and Divorce, childhood conditioning, Judgement, Money, baggage, fear and Forgiveness.  She is open to answering any question and makes sure that its not all work, as where is it written that you can’t have fun when you are learning something?

“Change Your Mind, Change Your Life”

Of course the Men have complained, “Why can’t she talk to us too”?  So Amanda has designed a new talk for Men and Women where she has pinpointed, with much humor, why people are de-motivated now, why they don’t seem to have enough hours in the day to achieve all they want to, why fear of change cripples them and why they are negative and unhappy about their lives.  In this thought provoking and fun talk she shares with you how she has managed to stay a happy, successful and motivated person after much personal loss and tragedy.  How to overcome our fear of change, our negativity, how to build relationships at home and at work, and how to achieve anything we set our to by building a credible bridge to that dream.   Amanda says that South Africans are incredibly talented we just lack the inspiration to believe in ourselves, sometimes thinking that imported is better!  We cannot be negative about this country or ourselves, so we need to change our minds to change our outcomes!  As Einstein said “Doing the same thing time and time again expecting a different result is a sign of madness”, so we have to change the way we approach things to get a better result or life.

Amanda is a talented, fun speaker who keeps the audience interested all the way through the twists and turns of her talk have been an Emcee and After Dinner speaker for the past 24 years.
